Some Tips

If this is the first time you are about to use the services of a translator, you may find the following tips useful:

Translator or interpreter?

Translators work with written text. Interpreters translate using speech. If you need an interpreter you can search the BDÜ database.

In Germany, translators usually charge per standard line (55 characters, including spaces). The price will also depend on the complexity of the text, the deadline and special requirements. If you have a specific job in mind, please contact me for an offer.

Time required?

Again, this will depend on the text amount and complexity, but you should allow at least one full working day for 6 pages. Accurate translations require time, concentration and thorough checking. The more time you allow, the better.

What can You do?

  • Highlight all text passages to be translated before you send the text to me.
  • If the text is still being created or edited, please wait until it has been finalised.
  • Please let me know the purpose for which the translation will be used.
  • Provide background material and/or in-house glossaries.
  • Name a contact person who will answer any queries.
